Tuesday Top 3: Building Employees for the Future

In response to last week’s question, “Labor Shortage: How Are You Filling Key Positions?” Lee Ann Slattery CSI, CCPR, CDT, LEED AP, Sales Support Manager, ATAS International, Inc., offered these three examples of how ATAS is building for the future.

 

  1. 1. ATAS International is looking several years into the future for possible employees. ATAS participates in an annual Manufacturing Day event, where students, parents, and teachers come to tour our facility and speak with employees about their positions.
  2. 2. We also support the annual Let’s Build Construction Camp for Girls. This summer camp is for girls ages 13-18 to learn more about careers within the various trades, and in manufacturing. During the week, the campers have hands-on training in carpentry, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, painting, tile, and masonry.
  3. 3. A couple of our employees are involved in Women in Science and Engineering (WISE) at the Da Vinci Science Center. These women help to mentor girls in STEM-related classes and to explore careers in those areas.
